Steering group

The steering group consists of five persons representing (the management of) each participating institution, including a chairperson/coordinator of the project.

The steering group has met six times: the first meeting took place in Leiden on 28-30 October ’06 and the group had its second meeting on 18-19 May ’07 in London. On 6-7 October '07 the steering group has met with both working groups in Jyvaskyla. Its fourth meeting took place in Iceland on the 16-18 of May 2008. The 21-23 of November 2008 the Steering Group met again in Groningen, The Netherlands, where a meeting with the external partners took also place. On 5-6 June the steering group has met in Leiden on the occasion of the last meeting of the working groups on curriculum development and quality assurance. The final meeting took place on September 10, 2009 in London.

In the first stage of the project both working groups and the steering groups have been activated. A project and financial administrator have been employed and an external evaluator of the project has been appointed.

Next to managing both working groups and effectively preparing the meetings, the steering group has developed a good business plan and an effective organisational and managerial model. The steering group has established a budget for the joint management of the programme and for the joint programme itself as well. Moreover, the profiles of the different institutions have been clarified and the development of a course brochure for both the pilot year and the start of the programme in ’09 have been discussed and put into action.

The Pilot Year 2008 – 2009 was a success. The Leiden meeting resulted in clear decisions about the proceedings for the start of the programme in ’09 including the set of Budget, Organization and Agreements.
